What is IMT?
IMT (Municipal Property Transfer Tax) is paid once, when you buy the property, before the deed. The amount depends on the price, the purpose (primary home, secondary or other) and the location.
On top of this tax there is Stamp Duty of 0.8% on the transaction value. There are also benefits such as IMT Jovem, for buyers up to 35 years old purchasing their first primary and permanent home.
